Educational Accreditation to modify the training methods (Oct 31 2016)


This was stressed by Dr. Le My Phong - Head of Educational Accreditation Office, Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) at the opening ceremony of the 3rd accreditors training program on educational accreditation on October 29, 2016.
Reportedly, on January 28, 2016, the University of Da Nang (UD) was officially assigned the task to implement the educational accreditation in Vietnam. So far The Center of Education Accreditation (CEA) of UD is one of the 3 centers in charge of Education Accreditation under management of MOET.

Until now, UD has successfully organized two accreditors training programs (in March and May of 2016) with the participation of 98 trainees who are staff and leaders in charge of educational accreditation of universities and colleges in Vietnam, in which 62 staff was awarded certificates.
Actually, CEA-UD had a significant contribution to the human resources of educational accreditation in the central region of Vietnam.
"Despite being newly established, CEA-UD was very dynamic with standard training method so that trainees can raise awareness and understanding about educational accreditation"- said Dr. Le My Phong.

The 3rd course of CEA-UD has 25 trainees who are members of President Board, leaders of the education institutions from the central region of Vietnam.
"Through the course, participants are equipped with new skills and knowledge in the field of quality assurance and accreditation in order to implement all requirements of current work"- said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Quang Vinh - Vice President of UD, Director of the CEA-UD.

In the past 10 years, Educational Accreditation has become an important mission for the higher education system in Vietnam and it drew significant attention to the society. At the ceremony, Dr. Le My Phong said: "MOET has deep concern on Educational Accreditation, especially in the current period. It is time to have a system of mechanisms, policies and good human resources to carry out the inspection and evaluation activities of training programs of educational institutions."
As known, the Educational Accreditation programs have been established since 2013.

Mr. Pham Thanh Hung - lecturer of Pham Van Dong University, (Quang Ngai province) said: "Our University has registered to carry out accreditation by CEA-UD, and it is expected to implement in March, 2017. This year, our university has appointed two faculty members to participate in this course. Through the program, we hope to find a suitable model for the work of educational accreditation of the university. The most importance is to help us improve the current problems in the inspection work. This will affirm the quality of the university and training programs as well. In the trend of educational integration, the standards of educational accreditation will help us develop the long term strategies of the university."
